Stay up all night searching one particular star
Give up ounces of reality for glimpses of a dream afar
Sing when the world sleeps, sing to smile, to breathe-in life
Closed eyes lay waiting for him to take to your side
Come across an old notebook bearing his name, containing what he wrote once, what he once was
Read through the chemical reactions as if they were works of a long lost art
And smile to yourself how time took everything you ever had, everything you would ever want
But how it forgot to erase a few pages, a zillion memories, a face that even sets time to a halt
And with that you welcome the sun each morning
Having had yet another sleepless night, reminiscing but not mourning
A love so dear to let go
A love such a hurt to let show
A love, you know, you can't live in absence of
A love so futile yet as perfect you ever had.
